U-Boat Watches

Originally conceived by Ilvo Fontana during the 1940s as a pilots’ watch, U-Boat watches finally saw the light of day in 1999 when Ilvo’s grandson Italo Fontana built upon his grandfather’s original design and launched his own brand.

While the Italian brand is relatively new among watchmakers, U-Boat has found strong support in the marketplace.

Characteristics of a U-Boat watch include the crown mounted on the left hand side (Left Hook), heavy contrasting dials and markings, and a large case. Models such as the U-Boat Flightdeck are available with a 55 mm (2.1 inch) case.

For those seeking a big slice of Italian style on their wrist, prices start from around £1000.
